We invite you to read the letter to the editor written by our az Tech director, Ivonne Bueno, on Cybersecurity as a weak flank in directories.
Mr. Director:
This year the Cybersecurity Framework Law was approved, which will put us at the forefront at the regional level, increasing standards and obligations for organizations providing essential and vitally important services, along with creating an agency with supervisory and sanctioning powers, with fines of up to UTM 40 thousand in certain cases.
In this context, the results of the Radiografía de la Ciberseguridad en Directorios de Chile, published in DF a few days ago, are surprising, showing that more than 55% of them do not know about the impact, sanctions and fines that the new regulation will bring. It also shows that only 44% of the boards of directors contribute to a comprehensive information security governance structure in their organizations.
Even more disturbing is the fact that more than 50% of them allocate only a basic budget for cybersecurity, which is clearly insufficient to face the sophisticated gear of today’s cyber-attacks. In the month of cybersecurity, the invitation is not to wait for an incident of this nature to occur to get busy and invest.
Remember that there is no zero risk in this area; on the contrary, organizations can always fall victim to cybersecurity incidents. The important thing is that they plan in advance how they will react to them and with what degree of resilience they will recover.
