Last Tuesday, November 28th, the kick-off of Women in Dispute Resolution Chile (WDR Chile) was held at the offices of Albagli Zaliasnik (az).

The event was attended by more than 40 prominent women lawyers who practice in the area of litigation in different law firms in Santiago.

Representing az was the senior associate of the Civil Litigation and Arbitration group, Josefa Larraín, together with associate Ruth Zúniga. Josefa welcomed the attendees and referred to the importance of making visible and promoting the presence of women in the practice of law.

WDR Chile is an organization founded by the lawyers Paz Arriagada, Manuela Ugarte, Siham El Masou, María Jesús Herrera and Francisca Ossa, with the purpose of generating a network to which different women lawyers practicing in the area of conflict resolution can join.

This network -which its founders hope can ideally be extended to all of Chile- seeks to serve as a platform to increase the visibility of the work and professional and academic milestones of its participants, generate instances of legal training, and ultimately provide them with tools to project and manage their professional careers effectively.

In this first event, the participants exchanged ideas on the presence of women in the area of conflict resolution, and shared the planning and projection that they seek to give to the organization in its first year.
